I have been teaching at Mercy as an Adjunct since 2011. I have a deep respect for students who want to learn, and am always eager to share my enthusiasm for Psychology, particularly Psychobiology. It has been an exciting opportunity to interact with students as technology, social media, and covid restrictions have inspired and challenged teachers.
Lately, I have mostly been teaching Introduction to Psychology and Psychobiology, although I have taught many classes of Social Psychology and Developmental Psychology. All are fascinating and interwoven in many complex ways.
I was honored to work with patients who had traumatic brain injuries to interview test, and encourage them. It is humbling to be with patients as text books come to life to give us insight into how human beings are affected by diseases and accidents.
Keeping up and vetting research studies in the field is important, and I hope to eventually engage in studies about the importance of companionship in the elderly.
I hope my sense of wonder at the brain and Psychology reaches the students I teach in class.
