Dear Students,
Mercy is eagerly preparing for in-person learning and on-campus activities and your participation is vital to ensuring we have a successful fall term. As we have previously communicated, our COVID-19 Vaccination Policy states that all students who will be on campus or engage in any level of in-person instruction or activity for the fall 2021 term will be required to submit records of their COVID-19 vaccination through the College's health records management system. Additionally:
- Students have been offered the opportunity to apply for a medical or religious exemption through the Office of ACCESSibilty (accessibilty@mercy.edu / 914-674-7764) and reasonable accommodations have been provided in accordance with College Policy.
- Students whose schedule is 100% online and will not be coming to campus should complete a waiver that will be assigned to them in Blackboard
- School of Health and Natural Science students who are registered for a clinical experience/rotation this fall must be vaccinated. Health care facilities are requiring COVID vaccinations and not permitting students to have exemptions of any kind.
- Residential Students and Student Athletes must be in compliance prior to their arrival on campus this fall or risk losing their housing and/or their ability to participate with their teams.
- Residential students will soon be receiving communications regarding mandatory testing upon arrival to campus for move-in.
The College will follow a similar protocol as with state required vaccines and a student’s incomplete vaccination status; however, due to the heightened health concerns with COVID-19 the College will administer mandatory weekly COVID-19 tests at each campus for all students who have received an exemption, who have only completed one dose of a two dose COVID-19 vaccine regimen, or for whom we do not yet have proof of vaccination.
- Students in these categories who are required to be tested on a weekly basis and who fail to do so will have administrative holds placed on their accounts and will be subject to sanctions up to and including suspension from the College.
Please Note: To assist in this overall process, Mercy College will be administering COVID-19 vaccines by appointment on each campus at our testing sites.
Thank you for your continued cooperation, and a special thank you to the thousands of students who are already in compliance with our COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon.
Sincerely,
Kevin Joyce
