Mercy College Honors Edward B. Dunn, William V. Cuddy, Jr., and Sasha Garcia at 38th Annual Trustees’ Scholarship Dinner

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – March 4, 2019 – Mercy College, located in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., will recognize two individuals for their dedication to industry, community and family at the college’s 38th Annual Trustees’ Scholarship Dinner on April 3. Led by mistress of ceremonies Tara Rosenblum, Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter for News 12 Westchester/Hudson Valley, the event will be hosted at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.

The College will honor William V. Cuddy, Jr., former Mercy trustee and executive vice president at CBRE, a leading real estate firm, with the Community Leadership Award; and Edward B. Dunn, H.D.’06, Mercy College trustee, who will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Sasha Garcia ’19, M.S. ’20, a behavioral science major who attended the acclaimed Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem, will receive the Award for Student Achievement.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a seated dinner and the scholarship challenge at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the event, the College’s largest fundraiser of the year, will help fund essential student scholarships.

William V. Cuddy, Jr., a leading figure in the commercial real estate industry, has provided consulting services to corporations and institutions domestically and internationally. He has held leadership positions at Westchester County Association, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and PCSB Bank, among others. His awards and honors include recognition as CBRE’s top-producing broker, the NAIOP’s Deal of the Year and the American Diabetes Association’s Father of the Year.

Edward B. Dunn’s career in the financial industry includes top positions with Citicorp, Morgan Stanley, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. He served the City of Rye, first on the city council and later as mayor. Since 1992 he has served on Mercy’s Board of Trustees, both as a member and as chairman, rising to trustee emeritus in 2006. He also served on boards of the Morgan Stanley Foundation, Covenant House and Rye Country Day School.

Past honorees include Hoda Kotb, journalist and author who co-hosts NBC’s “The Today Show”; Duncan Niederauer, former CEO of the New York Stock Exchange; Alex R. Ferrari ’82, former EVP and former COO of MTV; singer actress Liza Minnelli; and Dr. Gregory H. Williams, MBA ’14, former president of The City College of New York and former president of the University of Cincinnati.
